About CJ

Casuarina Smith

Casuarina Smith, is a powerful voice in the Australian transport industry, bridging the gap between generations and inspiring change through storytelling, education, and authentic engagement. Industry partnerships align with the clear values of integrity, respect, and safety CJ personally holds and presents.

CJ brings a modern voice to the transport sector while honouring its heritage, and through hard work, learning at every step, CJ has earned her place as a trusted figure within the industry.

Her work highlights the industry and is helping to attract and retain new talent while supporting those already in the trade. Through her digital platform and real-world industry involvement, CJ doesn’t just speak about the future, CJ is helping to shape it. Her positive communication style and commitment to promoting the value of the transport sector help redefine the industry’s image and influence its next chapter.

Through video storytelling, industry tours, and event appearances, CJ highlights the unseen aspects of transport, the innovation, resilience, and camaraderie that make this industry essential. These aren’t polished PR moments; they are honest insights from events, mine sites, workshops, paddocks, highways and depots across the country.

It’s at the wider industry level where CJ’s leadership truly shines. She champions a communication channel that is open, inclusive, and far-reaching, with over 50% of her audience now based internationally. Her content doesn’t only reach drivers. It resonates with operators, apprentices, manufacturers, educators, and the general public. CJ shows what transport looks like. The reality, the rewards, and the road ahead. For those not born into this industry, she offers visibility and inspiration. It’s true – it’s hard to be what you can’t see.

A passionate educator, CJ drives initiatives from primary school visits to TAFE, always encouraging curiosity, learning and pride in the industry. Whether speaking at events, recording podcasts or sharing hands-on insights in short-form videos, her commitment to raising awareness around careers in transport is relentless. She doesn’t believe in silver bullets instead, CJ applies the principle of “little and often”: using her platform to champion training, skills development, and career pathways. Her approach is building momentum with clear, measurable engagement from young people, educators, and industry stakeholders alike. A great example of this is her appointment as the Brisbane Truck Show 2025 ambassador.

CJ also leads in one of the most critical and often overlooked areas of transport: health and wellbeing. Drawing from personal experience, she advocates for finding balance in a physically and mentally demanding sector. Her honest, relatable messaging around wellness is heard by drivers across generations and genders. Whether it’s burnout, loneliness, or physical strain, CJ opens conversations, creates space for discussion, information and steps to help avoid the rougher outcomes.

Above all, CJ brings a human lens to transport. She captures the grit and the beauty of the work, celebrates those who do it, and lights a path for those considering a future in the field. Through her presence, professionalism and passion, she is not only elevating the perception of the transport industry she is helping shape its future.

Starting in 2022, CJ created her digital channels. What started out as an idea with a very close friend to start a “Trucking Insta”, has grown and amplified a consistent, values-led message about the people, roles, and possibilities within transport. It also quickly evolved into a nationally recognised and globally resonant platform, one that is now partnered with by leading organisations and associations within the industry that align with CJ’s values to champion our industry story.

CJ’s message of pride, professionalism, and opportunity in the transport industry has scaled quickly. From a following of around 30,000 people in 2022, her platform now reaches over 100,000 accounts. This growth isn’t just about numbers it reflects rising interest in the insights CJ brings, and the appetite for industry-positive content that is authentic. Her insights are shared through her website, truckingwithcj.com, across social media, in podcasts, and at in-person events celebrating and improving life in the transport sector.

Among her most visible recognition and opportunities to widen insights and visuals of our industry even further was being named Brand Ambassador for the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show, Australia’s largest trucking industry event. This role is not symbolic; it was the result of CJ’s ability to connect stakeholders across the supply chain from operators, drivers and heavy vehicle technicians to OEMs and policy makers and even a large audience outside of trucking.

Her presence at the show, and the campaign activity leading up to it, is all helping to shift public perception and media focus toward the industry and highlights CJ’s capacity to champion the industry with both professionalism and heart.

CJ’s initiatives also extend into advocacy for better conditions and training within the industry. Her editorial Hopes for Better Training and Better Facilities for Truckies outlines the real-world challenges many drivers face, from access to adequate rest stops to the standard of driver education.

Through incredible videos on YouTube and stories like her harvest experience in regional Australia, CJ puts a spotlight on underrepresented insights in the sector, bringing inspiration by showcasing the incredible work our industry does that literally puts food on the table.

The commercial trust placed in CJ by both Australian and international brands is further evidence of the credibility and value of her portrayal of the transport industry. Global brands have partnered with CJ because they each align with the same values and strive to promote our industry’s visibility.

In all her work, CJ leads with a message that inspires the next generation while respecting the legacy of those already on the road. Her initiatives whether in digital campaigns, school visits, or behind-the-scenes socials and longer form documentaries on YouTube are driving engagement and influencing how the transport industry is seen, supported, and can be sustained for the future.

Much love,

Casuarina
